How to make the Thumbs Up gesture

  1. Curl all four fingers
  2. Point your thumb up
  3. Hold steady

What it means

A thumbs up means approval, "good job" or "all fine" in most places.

How the camera recognizes it

All four fingers are curled and the thumb is extended with its tip above the wrist. With the tip below the wrist it becomes Thumbs Down.

Effect: Star Burst

Star Burst sends golden stars from the thumb tip that float upward and fade.

Tips for reliable detection

  • Curl the fingers fully so none of them count as raised.
  • Point the thumb up, not sideways.
  • Show it with both hands for twice the stars.
